The Deirdre Shea School began in 1989 when a group of Cranford women requested basic party dance instruction. Soon Deirdre Shea began to instruct their children as well. We began with 15 thenwe now have over 200 students. Deirdre is a certified teacher (TCRG) with An Coimisium le Rinci Galeacha (The Irish Dancing Commission). In 1997, John Jennings joined the school. John, a former world champion dancer, runs the competitive championship program at the school. John is a certified teacher (TCRG) and adjudicator (ADCRG) with An Coimisium le Rinci Galeacha (The Irish Dancing Commission).

The Shea-Jennings School is a competitive Irish Dancing school and its students successfully compete in local feiseanna (plural of “feis” which is an Irish dance competition) as well as national and international competitions. The school also hosts an annual feis that attracts dancers from all over the nation..

While competitive Irish Dancing offers many exciting opportunities to our dancers, Deirdre understands that not all students are interested in competing. Therefore, competition is a choice. The school is equally supportive of students who wish to take classes just for the love of dance. Each school year ends with a recital at Cranford High School where all classes, beginner through championship, have an opportunity to perform for their friends and family.

The Shea-Jennings School offers Beginner through Champion classes to students from pre-school through adult at our studio at 118 Walnut Street in Cranford, N.J (we share studio space with Yvette Dance School). Classes run from September through June and are offered 6 days a week. The school also offers a weeklong summer day camp program for children of all levels. For more information on classes or summer day camp, please contact the studio at 908-276-8181 or via email info@sheajennings.com.
